Graduation Robes
The graduation robes form part of the academic regalia that are worn during graduation ceremonies that take place in an institution such as a university, high school or college and are worn by both the faculty members and the students who are graduating. The robes are an important component of a set of clothes that is commonly referred to as academic dress or regalia. The gowns differ in terms of material, shape and color to differentiate between the scholars who are graduating. These colors may represent the academic qualification, type of course undertaken and the award level.
Most of the graduation Robes
have colors that resemble those of the institution that the individual is graduating from. The most common color, though, for the robes is black and at times the traditional gray. There are robes that may be open or closed at the front. The sleeves of the graduation robes are also different, depending on the degree or certification that the graduate is awarded. A robe that has short sleeves is worn by the graduates receiving Bachelor Degrees, Diplomas, and Certificates, while a robe with long sleeves are worn by the graduates who are attaining Masters Degrees and Professional Doctorates.
